Cigar Reviewed: Diesel Diesel

I felt like the cigar aged differently than others in humidor for the same amount of time. This was held for about a month after purchase (local cigar lounge) but had dried out significantly. It was quite firm and burned very quickly. I did like the unlit smell and draw very much though, and except for wishing it would have lasted longer, the quite firm condition did not translate into an overly hot draw or charcoal flavors. I expected an earthiness and was so pleasantly surprised that it was much more up front than I had expected. There is plenty of spice in this and you probably expect that from the brand too, but the layers of barbecue, earth (not mud), and some beautiful fermented flavors were wonderfully balanced. I really enjoyed that the cigar stayed with tobacco forward, but let each of the truly artisan parts of the production shine individually and then as part of a more complex undercurrent. This is a stick that should be enjoyed slowly, and you should be aware that it truly is bold by design. I feared the idea of a cigar meant to make float away... lol.. but it was not that kind of experience. I would recommend this cigar, would gladly smoke it again, and felt like I made a great decision to test the brand, this just makes me want to try others they produce, and that is a strong and positive thing!
