Smoked: Arturo Fuente Casa Cuba Doble Sies

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

Arturo Fuente Casa Cuba Doble Sies RT is a double banded cigar named after the game of Dominoes. It’s supposed to be an attempt to duplicate Cuban cigar tradition with Cuban seed Dominican filler and binder covered in a brown, oily Eduador Havana wrapper with hidden seams and a few visible veins. It’s a medium-full bodied and medium strength smoke.

Cedar, pepper, spice, toast/bread, dark chocolate, coffee, almonds, citrus – orange-ish, a hint of the taste of the old Clove gum from my youth, so I guess I’m tasting cloves. Herbal notes emerge in the background halfway through the smoke and almonds turn to walnuts A fair amount of complexity with a few transitions.

Nice draw with just enough resistance, very even burn line, light grey ash not tight but sufficiently firm, not flaky, and a ton of smoke production.

There’s a good flavor profile to this cigar. Construction is solid. Complexity is there. I like the cigar. I just didn’t love it. My Fuente friends won’t like this, but I have to give it a reluctant 4. A 3.67 perhaps.
