Enjoying the Day

Smoked: Man O' War Valkyrie

What a beautifiul day so I went with a Man O' War Valkyrie. This AJ Churchill measures 6.8x48 and sports a Colorado Claro Equador Connecticut wrapper and Ecuadorian binder with filler from Nicaragua. The cap cracked when I V cut it and I was concerned about draw. Luckily it did not have an impact as draw was good. Hints of nuts and butter with typical AJ spice.rounded out this mild plus stick. For a Churchill vitola it smoked in less than 50 minutes and that suprised me. Maybe I was enjoying it so much and smoked too fast. Overall another nice stick from the Man O' War line.

Looks and sounds good. I've become very fond of doing a V-cut. However, the head of one of my CT wrapped sticks cracked when using it, so I've since straight-cut any cigar with a more fragile wrapper.

I have started using a hole punch also.

I've used a hole punch a few times with good results. For example, the Nub 460 line seems to do well with a hole punch. Those cigars sometimes tend to have an almost too open draw (IMO), so the hole punch lends itself well to a more pleasant draw.

I need to amend my statement above. Yesterday, I smoked a Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne Figurado (CT wrapper, of course). I (almost) always use a V-cut on that type of vitola, so I went ahead and did so with that cigar. No damage to its head whatsoever. So... 🤷‍♂️
