A pair of new releases from Sinistro Cigars are heading to retailers, Mr. Candela and Mr. White Gold Edition, both of which trace their roots to other cigars in the company’s portfolio. Mr. Candela is an offshoot of the Mr. Red line, using that cigar’s blend and adding a Dominican candela wrapper to it. That means that under the candela leaf sits a wrapper from Mexico’s San Andrés region, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and fillers from all four of Nicaragua’s growing regions as well as broadleaf from Pennsylvania. It is being released in two sizes, both of which add a secondary band in addition to the existing black and red primary band: Mr. Candela Robusto (5 x 50) — $8.05 (Box of 20, $161) Mr. Candela Toro (6 x 54) — $8.90 (Box of 20, $178) The company has released 200 numbered boxes of each size, and said that the cigar will return, though the decision as to whether it will be an annual or biannual release has not yet been decided. As might be inferred, the Mr. White blend is also getting a tweaked blend, the Gold Edition, created by the addition of more andullo tobacco to the filler and changing the wrapper from a 10-year-aged Dominican habano leaf to a Connecticut broadleaf maduro. It too is being released in two sizes: Mr. White Gold Edition Robusto (5 x 50) — $8.40 (Box of 20, $168) Mr. White Gold Edition Churchill (7 x 47) — $10 (Box of 20, $200) Like with Mr. Candela, Sinistro is releasing 200 individually numbered boxes of each size, though it will get a regular production release at the 2020 PCA Convention & Trade Show next summer. The company is also looking at other sizes for that release, though has not finalized which ones it will release.
