Punch Celebrates Lunar New Year With New Bottle Rocket Cigar
Punch Cigars are commemorating the Year of the Snake with a firework-shaped cigar called Bottle Rocket. Following tradition, this Lunar New Year release breaks the mold with a unique 4.5 X 50 vitola with an attached “stabilizing stick,” just like a real bottle rocket.
Punch Bottle Rocket Blend Breakdown
But what makes this cigar “explosively delicious” is not the unique packaging. Punch Bottle Rocket’s four-country blend is filled with explosive Nicaraguan, Dominican and Honduran tobaccos, a Nicaraguan Esteli binder and a Mexican San Andres wrapper bursting with spicy and peppery flavors. The result is a full-bodied firecracker of a cigar as unique as its packaging.
Punch's brand manager, Scott Abney, said, “Much like a good firework, Punch Bottle Rockets are powerful, eye-catching, and surprising in all the right ways. Beyond the colorful packaging and bombastic branding lies a truly excellent cigar crafted with a rich Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Grab a pack of Bottle Rockets and start the Lunar New Year off with a bang!”
Building off last year’s firework-themed release (Dragon Fire), Bottle Rocket comes packaged in a firework canister, and each cigar is attached to its own firework stick. Individual canisters contain 20 cigars. The canisters also display serpent imagery as a nod to The Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

“Tradition” is one of the most important terms in the cigar industry. A few cigar brands can trace their roots back to the 19th century, and many cigar manufacturers try to carry on — if not replicate — the traditions laid down by their predecessors. Punch Golden Era is an exciting case study in tradition because it heavily features a type of tobacco that was once incredibly popular but is now a rarity: authentic Corojo.
