PCA 2024 - Day 1 💨 Cigar Snob
Day 1 was action packed for the Cigar Snob crew 🔥 The day started with a pre-release blend from one the industry’s exciting young manufacturers, Klaas Kelner - look out for his blends in the coming weeks and months. And from a young talented manufacturer we moved to an industry icon in the form of Sandy Cobas, owner of El Titan de Bronze in Little Havana. El Titan has partnered with General Cigar in the distribution of their Redemption brand and although they did not have samples of the Redemption, we were blessed to smoke a test blend, which blew us away. It was early on day 1 but we all felt like we’d smoked the best cigar we’ll have at the show right then and there.
Still at the General Cigar booth, we were handed samples of a new product that piqued our interest but we did not get to smoke - the Macanudo Emissary España, which features Spanish tobacco in the filler blend.
Next up we hit the Drew Estate booth where we enjoyed the new Shade to Black with Jon Drew on their Backstage Access interview show. We also caught up with Blackened Wiskey’s master distiller and blender, Rob Dietrich, who may or may not have agreed to send us a bottle of the Blackened Rye the Lightning!
Jamy took selfies with numerous friends as we shuffled from booth to booth and we settled at My Father Cigars where we smoked the killer new Don PepÃn Vintage Edition and spent time with Jaime and Jandy Garcia discussing the company’s exciting future plans. They also gave us samples of the Fonseca MX.
Illusione hosted the Happy Hour Lounge and we smoked the Illusione Habano while Dion Giolito shared pictures of his pet raven, of course he has a raven.
After the raven-talk, it was time to run over and meet Mr. Yfrach, an agronomist in the Dominican Republic, who is growing, curing, and fermenting tobacco at 4,500 ft above sea level. Mr. Yfrach and his company, Natura, will be releasing a puro made entirely of tobacco grown at that altitude called Altura.
We ran out of the hall and made our way to dinner at Estiatorio Milos hosted by General Cigar’s Victoria Jaworski and Torben Sand. A wonderful way to end the first day of PCA.
Stay tuned tomorrow for more coverage from the show!
