While the rest of the cigar world is obsessed with Nicaraguan cigars, Robert Caldwell has been focusing on aged leaves from the Dominican Republic. The King Is Dead uses entirely Dominican leaves and a Dominican Negrito wrapper leaf. This blend is supposed to offer a refined flavor with the best aged leaf that the DR has to offer. My question is, even though this is aged, can it produce the flavor that's needed to keep up with all the Nicaraguan stuff on the market? The only way to find out is with a cut and a light.
