Cohiba is breaking new ground with a cigar that is truly unlike anything the iconic brand has ever produced. Cohiba Riviera, which arrives at retailers nationwide this month, is the only box-pressed Cohiba and the only Cohiba to have a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Riviera is a full-time addition to the Cohiba lineup.

Cohiba Riviera Tasting Notes & Blend Breakdown

As mentioned above, Cohiba Riviera features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Indeed, the cigar itself was named after the surrounding “riviera” geography of the Mexican San Andrés valley –– a famous growing region defined by its volcano-enriched soil, naturally cool climate, and abundance of running fresh water. Beneath the San Andrés wrapper, Riviera contains a Honduran Connecticut binder and four filler tobaccos: Honduran Jamastran, Honduran La Entrada, Nicaraguan Estelí, and Nicaraguan Condega. (For those curious: yes, this is the only time a Cohiba has included Nicaraguan Condega tobacco in a cigar.)

Tasting notes include dark chocolate, coffee, cream, and an overall richness to the smoking experience. It is a medium-to-full-bodied smoke. Bourbon, cognac, single malt Scotch, and single malt whiskey are recommended pairings for Cohiba Riviera.

Sean Williams, Brand Ambassador for Cohiba, had this to say about the new release: "Cohiba Riviera is a bold yet balanced blend of the most exceptional tobaccos from Nicaragua with exclusively-grown tobaccos from Honduras. Medium-to-full bodied and adorned with a delectable wrapper from Mexico, Riviera is an elegant selection offering notes of dark chocolate and coffee bean with a hint of leather and subtle cream on the finish.”

Cohiba Riviera Availability & Product Info
