While awaiting knee replacement surgery now scheduled for 31 July, I've learned that old age is not all it is cracked up to be. Wednesday night, while taking the garbage to the curb in the pitch dark, I stumbled over a tree root and fell. Nothing broken but multiple bruises, contusions and abrasions. Bruised ribs (very painful), twisted ankle, bruised shoulder and sore neck. I'll survive but I've come to the realization that "geriatric" is the nice word for falling apart.
A cigar always seems to help and that evening was no exception. I had an AVO which was, as always, very tasty. Since I couldn't get to sleep right away, I had a second, a Nico Puro. That one was potent enough to help me get to sleep. Thursday was more painful than was Wednesday, so a couple more cigars helped to draw my attention away from the soreness. I had a Camacho Ditka Throwback and a LFD . The Camacho was new to me and was quite a surprise. The LFD was, as always, a killer.

(4 years ago)Good luck with your surgery! Interesting that cigars help you go to sleep. Just the opposite for me. If I smoke too much at night, the nicotine keeps me awake.
