Figured this would be a real banger since the literal translation for Nanakubi means "severed head". Matt Booth Room 101 founder did some of his service as a Marine in Japan (where I live). Nanakubi is now mostly found as a severed (typically samurai) head tattoo in Japan.
This is a limited edition (2021) 5.5" x 50 Perfecto with fully undisclosed info on the tobacco. However, with a deeper dive you'll find that it's an Equadorian Habana wrapper, around Equadorian/Dominican fillers. Room 101 has definitely been a staple in my humidor the last couple of years, with the remergence of the brand (Prototipo101 is a nice one).
This one on first draw, made me chuckle, because it had quite the punch! I love me some full flavored cigars, so this was even a kicker for me.
At about $25 MSRP, this is a little steep for an everyday smoker unless you're rollin'. But it's definitely a nice treat and worth the money if you can find them. It's been awhile since the last time they were offered, so snatch'em while they're here. A portion of all proceeds go to Alzheimer’s awareness (purple vs. previous red labels).
Great cold draw after a nice V-cut. The burn is nice, with a great consistent ash (first ash close to half-way), no touchups required with this nicely constructed beauty. Plenty of thick white smoke. Dark cocoa, pepper spice and wood thru the first 1/3. I'd say this is a medium+ to full flavored cigar that doesn't disappoint with a long finish.
A truly enjoyable cigar with tons of smoke and deep flavor at the end!
