Over years of smoking I found myself at times of indecision on what I was going to pull from the humidor deciding on the Punch Rare Corojo. It's an affordable cigar that has good construction, aroma and I personally like the taste. Over time you will find your "go to" cigar but keep trying other smokes.

For me most of my favorites have been by trial and error. However, I listen to reviews from smokers and tend to stay away from reviews from publications or press releases. Bear nailed it. What works for you may not work for someone else. If you see a review with flavor notes you like…(Earth, Cedar..etc) Than pick up a 5 pack and give them a try. It is my opinion, you have to smoke more than one of a particular blend to get a true opinion. But that’s just me.

After returning to cigar smoking in 2022 after an almost 25-year hiatus, I ordered a “90 Rated Sampler” from Best Cigar Prices to test the waters. Out of that sampler came what is now my favorite cigar, the Rocky Patel Sun Grown Robusto. It was “love at first puff.”

"Favorite" is tricky. I have go-to smokes depending on my mood and the environment. Mild-med bodied: Cohiba Connecticut, Dunbarton Sobremesa Brulee, Zino Platinum Master Series are favorites with morning coffee - along with Southern Draw Rose of Sharon, The Griffin's and Macanudo Cafe Hyde Park. Medium bodied: Caldwell The King is Dead, 22 Minutes to Midnight Habano de Oro and Connecticut Radiante (more med-mild), La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor, My Father Flor de Las Antillas, Padron 2000. Full bodied: Black Label Trading Company, Black Works Studio Hornet, Foundation The Tabernacle, Dunbarton Red Meat Lover's Filet Mignon, Oliva V Melanio, Liga Privada #9.

I do some research and find a stick to try or the cigar is gifted and/or recommended by a friend. I have favorites but I'm always on the lookout for new cigar adventures. Tried 3 of the Caldwell Crafted & Curated series recently. I went 2 for 3. That works for me.

Remember cigar preferences are subjective. We each have different tastes in cigars. Keep sampling new sticks. You'll find some favorites, but there's always a new adventure awaiting if you take a chance on a cigar you've yet to smoke.
