Ok, there's enough actual and budding chefs in the Ward B, that I'll see if a cooking thread can fly. We all like to share ideas, so let's share what we're grilling, cooking and yes, even baking each day and weekend, too.

(5 years ago)A cooking thread would be great. We had grilled chicken, green beans, and rice Sunday. Last night was pesto with shrimp and tomato. I also ate some really good food while in Puerto Rico. I think I should probably fast for a few days after that trip.

(5 years ago)Hubby and I went to a Purim party last night and feasted on corned beef brisket with carrots and onions, potato pancakes, challah, rugelach, and my favorite hamantaschen!

(5 years ago)Last night we had a small dinner party. I made beef pot roast, mashed potatoes, roasted whole carrots and parsnips. Picked up some sprouted spelt bread and stopped at the bakery for chocolate bouchons for dessert, which I served with vanilla bean ice cream and drunken blackberries.

I gave up all desserts for Lent, so basically half your meal I’ll have to wait for to try! lol

(5 years ago)We’re learning that most if not all our “kids” are somehow to some degree lactose sensitive. Neither my wife nor I are. Anyway, we’re getting more creative like that, too. Sounds delicious!

(5 years ago)Mark: That sounds great! Did you bake it like bread or bars?
Tonight it's going to be a salmon scramble with white rice, the salmon cooked with onions, green peppers, and mushrooms and added to scrambled eggs.

(5 years ago)I made them into smallish loaves, & then sliced those, bagged each, & froze them. Just pull them out the night before for breakfast, or toss 1 into lunch bag in the morning for lunch.

(5 years ago)Yesterday I merged two recipes and it turned out amazing!! I combined Banana Bread and breakfast power bar recipes. It’s got tons of dried fruits - cranberries, raisins, dates, figs - fresh chunked pears, bananas (mashed & slices) , pistachios, pepitas, honey, & oats.
Thumbs up from ChinaDan & Ranger, too!
