West Tampa Tobacco Company White robusto is a Nicaraguan blend covered with a Ecuador habano wrapper. So, from the first puffs, why am I tasting notes that remind me of Broadleaf?
Flavor profile: Pepper, metallic/steely, musty, cream and cedar. The pepper and cream seem to balance each other like counterweights on a scale, but the metallic taste remains throwing it off the entire smoke. Some coffee, nuts and earth settle in to the mix during the second third. The retrohale is very peppery with more metallic aroma and some earthiness.
The construction is weak. The smoke output was adequate, but it was difficult to keep the cigar lit. After resting on a port for more than a minute, it needed either several puffs or a relight. The draw was fine throughout. The burn line was uneven. The relights didn’t help.
The flavor of this cigar is quite linear. There are no transitions and certainly no Oh Wow moments. This is a very average cigar.
