Smoked: Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro

Kindly gifted by an online friend, I was greatly looking forward to trying my first Drew Estate cigar, an Undercrown Maduro, that had been resting in my humidor for 4 months. All I can say, really, that it was a “unique” cigar. Unique in the fact that the flavors from the Brazilian tobacco therein made me scratch my head trying to come up with relatable descriptors. While the construction was good with a decent burn and abundant smoke production (with the foot pouring out smoke when it rested in the ashtray), it only served to reinforce my general dislike of tobacco from Brazil. Meh. 🤢

Today is Big Ten College Football day! WOOO HOOOO! But I’m afraid Purdue will get their ashes kicked by Notre Dame. ND actually LOST to Northern Illinois University last week! (Insert another “WOOO HOOOO!” here.) Dare I hope for a similar upset in today’s longtime rivalry game? Hope springs eternal. And, here’s hoping you all have a great weekend!

And oh, by the way, today’s football cigar is going to be an old tried-and-true favorite, yet to be determined. A Montecristo Platinum Series robusto, perhaps? We shall see… Cheers! 🥂😊

I like the Liga Undercrown Shade. The maduro not so much. Have you tried the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary? That may be more in your wheelhouse.

I have not. Thanks for the recommendation.

That cigar had a ton of good reviews and I liked it but IMO it didn’t live up to the hype and I gave it several chances. Now, at least for me, the liga privata #9 the t-52, the Herrera Esteli habano and the m-81 blacked maduro are Drew’s finest. Just my palette taking 👍🏻

I appreciate your take, brother. I'll not abandon other options from Drew Estate.

I am suprised as I have truly enjoyed this cigar over the past year. I bought a box and stored t for 6 months and then started smoking them. I am half through the box. Try the shade variation.
