Roma Craft Neanderthal HoxD is made with a combination of Nicaraguan, Dominican and Pennsylvania Ligero filler, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and covered in a tannish brown toothy Mexican San Andres wrapper. It has already piqued my interest. It’s a 4 x 46 petite corona. The slim orange band includes the obtuse Roma Craft logo and nothing further to say. BTW: Good luck removing the band. I struggled to pick it off with only a slight tear in the wrapper. Cigar glue to the rescue. I’ve encountered this issue with every Roma Craft I have smoked.
The flat cap had me nervous cutting it. Opted for a shallow V cut and…success! Ignition and... Spice, of course, it’s a Roma Craft, campfire charred wood, earth, pepper, some chocolate, and espresso. There is an underlying sweetness that balances the aforementioned flavors.
Fine open draw, fairly even burn line, the ash holds on well, and the smoke output is solid. As I mentioned, there was a nick in the wrapper from removing the band. After gluing it, I was able to smoke past the wrapper incursion and all was well.
This little cigar packs a wallop. This thing has some serious strength to it. Roma Craft cigars all seem to have a nicotine kick to them. This one exceeds any Roma Craft I have yet smoked. I enjoyed the cigar despite needing copious sips of water between puffs and drams of scotch. Roma Craft Neanderthal HoxD is a spice/pepper bomb. If you enjoy the Camacho Triple Maduro, Tabernacle Havana Seed #142 or LFD Double Ligero, you’ll like this cigar.

(4 days ago)Not a line I have much history with, but enjoyed the Maestanza Cabaleria Valencia recently. Will have to try more of their portfolio.
