Sweet, rich soil on the wrapper nose. This Olmec Maduro starts with a very strong flavor profile from light up. Hard to pinpoint individual notes with the immense complexity, however a noticeable spice protrudes akin to chile, a layered oaky-earth blend that still isn't discernible on the retro-hale, a faint creamy brown sugar lurks in the background. Exceptionally well balanced. Transitioning with sweet molasses and a nice cream notes in first 1/3. Earthiness translates into a toasted breadiness with oak wood taking the forefront of the palette. Earthiness battles oak for the prodominant note in 2/3 with a honeyed campfire sweetness. As the 2/3 gives way to the last 1/3, the woodiness becomes more a funky, vintage wood furniture note. Seeetness falls out in last 1/3 but still retains a nuance of honey/brown sugar. Despite slight transitions burn, construction and flavor remain very consistent through the entire stick. Last third unveils more black peppered spice, with younger wood, all sweetness and creaminess drops out.
