Having been a fan of Liga Privadas for many years, I thought it might be time to go the opposite direction flavor-wise. The Liga Undercrown Connecticut Shade features a smooth, silky Ecuador Connecticut shade wrapper with a few tiny veins. Friends have recommended this cigar for years. Let’s fire one up and check out the buzz first hand.
Tasting cedar, some pepper, earth, cream, vanilla, cashews (always a good signal that you’ve found a good CT shade), and spice. A hazelnut note blends with the cashew nuttiness halfway through the first third. A smidge of fresh cut grass makes its way into the mix on a few puffs during the 2nd 3rd. The cigar is not super complex, but it is well balanced. This is a smooth, yet rich flavored medium to medium-mild cigar – just what I like with morning coffee. The retrohale exudes mild pepper, wood, sweetness and nuts.
Perfect draw, generous smoke output. It’s a fast burning cigar, but the burn line is razor sharp even. Tight grey & black ash that held well up to 2 inches before falling. Kudos on the construction.
Liga Undercrown CT Shade scores 5s across the board.
