Espinosa Laranja Azulejo

Espinosa Laranja Azulejo 6 X 46 is a box pressed cigar packed with Nicaraguan filler with a Brazilian binder and a slightly toothy, oily dark brown Ecuador Sumatra wrapper. The veins are very hard to see. Cigar band is unmistakably the Laranja logo with Azulejo – Portuguese for azure blue - plus a blue footer.

Wood, leather, strong pepper, mild fleeting spice, burnt toast/bread/crackers, almonds and walnuts and an Espinosa creaminess much like the Crema taste. I might describe it as creamy cocoa. There is a nice balance of sweet creaminess, wood/earth/leather and toast/bread/cracker saltiness. The retrohale is peppery, of course, with an earthy floral note lingering on the olfactory receptors. It’s full bodied, starting out medium strength but full strength by the finish.

The draw is a bit loose, but acceptable. The smoke output was more than adequate, and the burn line was pretty even throughout the smoke.

Espinosa Laranja Azulejo is bold and dark, yet balance and complex enough to have kept me interested. Had the strength remained medium it would have been right in my wheelhouse. It ended up a bit too strong for my aging taste buds…and my resistance to nicotine buzz.
