CAO Fasa Sol Toro was recommended after a poor performance by its twin – CAO Fasa Noche. The Sol is made of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler, a Cameroon binder and a Honduran wrapper.
Wood, musty earth, nuts, a touch of pepper spice, sesame water table crackers, and hints of dried fruit in the backdrop. I’m surprised I could identify those notes given the draw and other issues.
This cigar was packed too tight. Way too much resistance on the draw, smoke output was minimal, wavy burn line, ash was flaky and fell off twice. Between the construction issues and the lack of flavors, I had to take this cigar out back and have it put down. It’s now Old Yeller.
I was underwhelmed by both CAO Fasas. If you’re going to release a pair of cigars – mild/lfull, day/night, sol/noche, serenity/insanity, I’ll take the latter – Cole Porter or Frank Costanza. My money is on Asylum channeling a Seinfeld episode over CAO’s Fasa Sol/Noche. Hey! Lloyd Braun was right!
