San Cristobal Elegancia & The Macallan Edition No. 4

Smoked: San Cristobal Elegancia

San Cristobal Elegancia Churchill features Nicaraguan filler and a Nicaraguan binder covered in a smooth, minimally oily Ecuadoran Connecticut wrapper with hidden veins. San Cristobal is a creation of Pepin Garcia and Ashton – nice pedigrees.

Smooth, creamy, some spice, buttery, cashews and hazelnuts, earthy, and medium roast coffee, but there is some serious pepper initially. The pepper does mellow out by the second third making way for a few notes of cocoa, floral and fruit in the berry and orchard arena. It’s rich and flavorful, but at the same time a medium-mild bodied, medium strength cigar. It has enough balance and complexity to earn a passing grade.

The stick has a perfect draw. The burn line is uneven requiring several touchups. I have smoked a number of Elegancias. This is the first one that has had burn line issues. The ash holds on for dear life even when rolling it off.

Good cigar – even better scotch. There are several more San Cristobals in the humidor. Now if I can just squeeze a few more drams of The Macallan Edition No. 4 out of my last bottle. This is some good stuff!
