YaRRRRR! Felt like a RUM kind of afternoon while smoking a brisket, today. Enjoying a Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel Aged Corojo (5x50), aged in extra old rum barrels as the band says. Pairing it with a 15 year old Haitian Barbancourt Rhum (86 proof/43%ABV).
The wrappers on this baby are aged in Flor de Caña rum, also from Nicaragua. All of their rum is aged in charred oak ex-bourbon barrels.
The rum definitely brings out the sweet woodiness in the cigar, with only a slight earthiness later on.
Great pairing, might have to track down one of the premium Flor de Caña rums, for next time. Cheers!

(4 years ago)I agree with you that a good rum pairs great with a good cigar. Flor de Cana is a very good rum, a bit on the sweet side. I am a real Appleton fan, not quite as sweet. Enjoy
