Top Lunar New Year Cigars

For decades, some of the cigar industry's biggest names have celebrated the Lunar New Year with limited-edition releases of incredible quality. Today, we’ll list the top Lunar New Year Cigars launched for the Year of the Snake (2025). Check them out here:

Punch Bottle Rockets

For the second year running, Punch has released a cigar with a firework theme. And like last year’s highly-rated Dragon Fire, the new Bottle Rocket boasts a spicy blend highlighted by a rich Mexican wrapper. Blast off with this beauty while you can!

Plasencia El Año de la Culebra

In Spanish, “culebra” translates to “snake,” but in cigar parlance, a culebra is an ultra-rare, traditional frontmark consisting of two to three long, twisted cigars bound together with rope or twine. For its Year of the Snake release, Plasencia took inspiration from the classic culebra shape to unveil a limited-edition box featuring a Nicaraguan Culebra — flanked by eight Lanceros.

Davidoff Year of the Snake

Davidoff has become famous for Lunar New Year cigars, and we’re excited to try the latest iteration for the 2025 Year of the Snake. This Lancero features an Ecuadorian wrapper and binder for a balanced, medium smoke. Plus, Davidoff Year of the Snake contains enticing tasting notes of lemon, leather, and coffee.

Liga Privada Único Serie Year of the Snake

This special edition Liga Privada from Drew Estate will not be easy for most American consumers to find since it will only be sold in the Asian market. However, if you’re able to get your hands on a Único Serie Year of the Snake, this complex and peppery Lonsdale wrapped in Connecticut Broadleaf will be sure to delight.

You could make a strong argument that Nicaragua is the epicenter of modern cigar production. Indeed, brands like Padrón, Oliva, Plasencia, Rocky Patel, and My Father all base their operations in Estelí. At the same time, J.C. Newman, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Drew Estate, and Perdomo all have factories in Nicaragua. Not only are Nicaraguan cigars (and cigars with Nicaraguan tobacco) some of the highest-rated cigars on the market, but their popularity has skyrocketed over the past few decades.

Also known as the “land of fire,” Ecuador has a long-standing history in tobacco production due to a heavy saturation of volcanoes in its ecosystem. Over eons and eons, this has allowed the soil to be extremely fertile. For that reason, a substantial number of premier cigar brands have looked upon Ecuador as a source for their outstanding tobacco.
