The Best Summer Spirits & Cigar Pairing

If summer is about anything it’s about kicking back with friends and family and enjoying good times. Well, this summer, the Cigar World team wanted to put together some of their favorite summer spirits and cigar pairings that are sure to keep you cool, even on those hot summer days.

Summer Rum drink & cigar pairing

If you like Piña Coladas…then this summer spirit and cigar pairing is just for you. That’s right, we’re matching up the intense CAO Nicaragua with the refreshing Piña Colada. The spicy Nicaraguan Jalapa, Esteli and Condega tobaccos really just meld perfectly with the creamy, coconutty rum drink.

What you’ll need:

• 1 ½ cup ice
• ½ cup frozen diced pineapple
• 2 oz. pineapple juice
• 2 oz. coconut cream
• 1 ½ oz. white rum
• 1 oz. dark rum
• Pineapple slices

What you’ll do:

Put the ice, frozen pineapple, juice, coconut cream, and the white and dark rums into a blender. Then, blend until smooth and frosty. After blended, pour and garnish the rim with pineapple slices.

Summer Tequila drink & cigar pairing 

Now, if Tequila is more your speed for a summer drink. Then reach for a Diesel Rage and cool yourself down with a crisp and refreshing Paloma. The acidity of the grapefruit and lime play so well with Rage’s full-bodied experience.

What you’ll need:

• 2 oz. Camarena Silver
• 4 oz. Grapefruit Soda
• 0.5 oz. Lime Juice
• Pinch of salt

What you’ll do:

Add ingredients into a Collins glass filled with ice and stir together. Garnish with lime wheel and sprig of mint. Light up your stogie and enjoy.

Summer Whisky drink & cigar pairing

For a memorable summer whisky and cigar pairing, try a Cohiba Royale with a rocks glass of Chita Distiller’s Reserve Single Grain. The Japanese whisky is crisp, light and full of juicy tropical fruit flavors, and that marries brilliantly with Royale’s full-bodied experience. 

What you’ll need:

• 2 oz. Chita Distiller’s Reserve Single Grain
• Ice

What you’ll do:

Fill your glass with as much or as little ice as you enjoy. Pour your Chitas. Enjoy.
