Pairing Holiday Spirits with Premium Cigars: A Cigar World Pairing Guide

‘Tis the season for enjoying cigars and premium spirits. Or, at least, it’s what we’re most excited about! Whether you’re looking for a special cigar-and-drink combo for your yuletide gatherings or you just want some quality cigar and cocktail combos, we’ve got you covered. Check out Cigar World’s guide to pairing holiday spirits with premium cigars.

Whiskey — Diesel Whiskey Row

In our humble opinion, it’s never a bad time to indulge in a fine glass of whiskey and an excellent cigar. However, if you get a nice bottle of bourbon this year as a present, we recommend pairing it with one of the cigars in Diesel’s Whiskey Row series. The original Whiskey Row (Rated 91 by Cigar Aficionado) is a three-way collaboration between Diesel, AJ Fernandez, and Rabbit Hole Distillery — making it an ideal smoke for a whiskey lover who appreciates a bold cigar.

Rum — AVO Syncro Caribe

Rum and cigars primarily come from the Caribbean region, so it only makes sense that these two products go perfectly together. Fittingly, the Dominican-produced AVO Syncro Caribe delivers a pleasantly balanced smoking experience that dovetails nicely with the sweet and spicy flavors found in high-quality rum.

Tequila — La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

Sticking with the theme of “if it grows together, it goes together,” we’ve selected a cigar with a Mexican wrapper to partner with Mexico’s most famous export, tequila. While there are many first-rate cigars that feature Mexican San Andrés wrappers, none are more acclaimed or respected than La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor. Mi Amor delivers delicious notes of chocolate and nuts along with exemplary construction. Have it with a rich, aged Añejo tequila or a classic margarita if the mood strikes you.

Eggnog — CAO Fasa Noche

While eggnog isn’t a spirit, it wouldn’t be the holidays without it. Whether you enjoy your eggnog without booze (or with a touch of rum, brandy, or whiskey), you can’t go wrong pairing it with CAO Fasa Noche. Spicy yet smooth, Fasa Noche is cloaked in a luxurious Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, and it makes a great choice for a nightcap (pun intended) — ideally with a glass of eggnog.

Irish Coffee — Partagas Cortado

Who says you can’t enjoy a cocktail and a cigar on a relaxing holiday morning? Kick off your holiday celebrations with a creamy and tasty combo — Irish Coffee and Partagas Cortado. Cortado is the first Partagas to feature a Connecticut Shade wrapper, and this 90-rated stunner makes a fantastic introduction to the brand.
