With PCA 2024 in the books and summer quickly approaching, it’s a great time to highlight some new cigars to try this year (2024). While we all have old favorites, some major new releases have garnered well-deserved attention from the industry. So let’s get straight to brass tacks — here are five(ish) great new cigars to add to your rotation.

CAO Fasa Sol and Fasa Noche

The first cigar on our list is actually two cigars — CAO Fasa Sol and Fasa Noche. Though Fasa Sol and Fasa Noche contain the same binder and filler tobaccos, they have different wrappers and thus represent various phases of the smoking experience. Fasa Sol has a Honduran Olancho San Augustin wrapper, while Noche boasts a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

Macanudo Emissary España

For the first time, Macanudo has released a cigar with European tobacco. Macanudo Emissary España — as you might’ve guessed from its name — features ten-year-aged filler tobacco grown near Riolobos, Spain. With a five-year-aged US Broadleaf Claro wrapper, this new cigar delivers a suave and sophisticated smoking experience of the highest order.

Gurkha Year of the Dragon(s)

While many cigar brands celebrated the Lunar New Year with dragon-themed products, Gurkha has upped the ante with a series of collaborations featuring some of the biggest names in the cigar industry. Indeed, this year, Gurkha is releasing cigars made in partnership with AJ Fernandez, Ernesto Perez-Carillo, Oliva, and Oscar Valladres. Rather than picking a favorite, we recommend trying them all out if possible.

Rocky Patel Gold Label

Intended as an everyday smoke, Rocky Patel Gold Label is hitting the shelves this summer. Adorned with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and stunning gold packaging, this latest release from Rocky Patel is likely to be another hit with cigar lovers.

AJ Fernandez Dias de Gloria Brazil

If you like AJ Fernandez Cigars (and who doesn’t?) and you’ve always wanted to try a smoke made with a Brazilian wrapper, then the AJ Fernandez Días de Gloria Brazil should be on your shortlist for new smokes. We’d elaborate, but this is a cigar you should probably just smoke for yourself  — we doubt you’ll be disappointed!
