2023 is officially upon us! That means it’s time to set some goals and plan for the year ahead. The good news for cigar lovers is that plenty of exciting cigar events are slated for 2023. So let’s take a look forward to the next twelve months. Here are some of the most notable cigar –– and cigar-adjacent –– events for your calendar this year:

The Super Bowl –– February 12. Glendale, Arizona

It doesn’t get any bigger than “the Big Game.” Whether you plan on attending the actual game in Arizona or getting together with friends for a watch party, a box of quality cigars is a must-have for any tailgate. And if your team goes all the way this year, you’ll definitely want to have some smokes on hand for the celebration.

National Cigar Day  –– February 27

Never heard of National Cigar Day before? Well, now you have! Mark it with your favorite stogie.

Big Smoke Meets WhiskyFest –– March 4. Hollywood, Florida

One of Cigar Aficionado’s annual events, the Big Smoke Meets WhiskyFest offers visitors the chance to attend cigar seminars, sample whiskeys, and puff on some of their favorite cigars. This event is pricey, though;  it’ll run you $350 for the cheapest package available. Don’t say we didn’t want you.

The WhiskyX –– March 23. Chicago

Cigars, whiskey, food trucks, and live music –– what’s not to love? The WhiskyX has planned three events for this year –– one in LA, one in Miami, and one in Chicago. Note previous WhiskyX festivals have featured famous cigar brands like Hoyo de Monterrey, Cohiba, and CAO

“Official” Beginning of Golf Season –– April 15

Technically, golf season may begin before or after April 15, depending on where you live. Regardless, all cigar and sports fans should be ready to hit the links and light up when Spring arrives. Oh yeah, and the Masters tees off on April 6, in case you didn’t know.

Father’s Day –– June 18

It wouldn’t be Father’s Day without a fine cigar, now would it? Don’t forget to pick up a box to split with your old man this June.

PCA Convention & International Trade Show –– July 7-11. Venetian Expo, Las Vegas

Full disclosure: The Premium Cigar Association (PCA) annual trade show is NOT for consumers. However, cigar manufacturers typically use these events to highlight new releases. So keep an eye out for any news coming out of cigar events like these!

InterTabac Trade Show  –– September 14-16. Dortmund, Germany

Much like the PCA Trade Show, the Intertabac Trade Show held in Germany is not a consumer-facing event, but cigar producers will use it in the same way: to showcase new products hitting the shelves in the fall/winter of 2023.

Alabama vs. Tennessee Football –– October 21. Tuscaloosa, Alabama

A college football rivalry built around cigar smoking? Sign us up! For the uninitiated, the fans of the winning team in this high-profile game traditionally light up a cigar to commemorate their victory. Last year, Tennessee won in dramatic fashion to break a 15-game losing streak against the Crimson Tide.

Winston Churchill’s Birthday –– November 30

Need an excuse to light up a big cigar on a cold, wintry day? Then take a page from Sir Winston’s book and celebrate with a Churchill in his honor.

Barn Smoker –– TBD

Last year, Drew Estate hosted five Barn Smokers in conjunction with the company’s 25th anniversary. While no dates have been announced yet, last year’s tour included stops in Florida, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Kentucky, and Texas.
