Cigar World’s Ultimate Travel Packing Guide
Cigars may not taste better on vacation, but there is something extra special about enjoying your favorite smoke on the road. Whether you’re off to a five-star resort for a month or just want to get away for the weekend, we’re here to share a few essential tips for smoking cigars while you travel. Here’s the ultimate travel packing guide for the cigar lover on the go:
The Must-Haves
Don’t even think of leaving home without these crucial smoking accessories:
- Quality cutter
- Quality lighter (A torch flame is preferable. You never know when you may need to light up in adverse weather conditions. And if you’re flying, check out this helpful guide about what flammables you can and can’t bring on a plane.)
- Cigar ashtray.
In addition, it’s always a good idea to bring a few of your favorite cigars anywhere you travel. Even if you know you’ll be able to access cigars on the trip, it’s still nice to have a few backups on hand, just in case. Plus, having extra cigars means you can share with friends, family, or colleagues on the trip.
If you choose to bring cigars, you should invest in a travel humidor and humidification packets. These portable boxes are typically small enough to fit into any travel bag easily, and they’ll keep your cigars humidified while you travel from place to place. Just remember to throw a humidification packet or two inside with your cigars.
Next Steps
Speaking of humidors — make sure your main humidor is in good working order before you leave for an extended period. No one wants to return from vacation to find most of their cigars ruined because of humidor malfunction.
Other travel considerations include
- Packing all non-cigar essentials like photo ID, passport, wallet, smartphone, etc.
- Packing appropriate attire for cigar lounges/bars. Some cigar lounges are casual; some are not. No matter the circumstances, having the right clothes for a smoking occasion is vital.
- Researching local tobacco laws and regulations. Just because you can light up at your favorite local cigar lounge doesn’t mean you’ll find a smoke-friendly venue where you’re traveling. So always look up local tobacco ordinances to find the best places to smoke and determine where you can and can’t transport/purchase/smoke cigars.
