La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado: First Impressions

Packaging

The La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado comes in a box that exudes sophistication and quality. The rich brown exterior prominently displays the classic “Lady La Gloria” logo, while the inside design pays homage to the skilled torcedores with images of their hands at work. Each perfecto is a substantial 7.75 inches long with a 62 ring gauge. The main band features a golden version of the La Gloria Cubana crest, and the long secondary band bears the signature of the master roller. Only 20 artisans crafted these cigars, with 10 cigars per box.

Aroma and Appearance

The cigar’s aroma is rich and chocolatey, with a hint of espresso. The Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers are a dark and rich – expertly rolled into an impressively sized 7.75x62 Perfecto

Initial Flavors

Upon lighting, you’ll experience flavors of cocoa and deep sweetness. The draw starts slightly tight, typical for perfectos, but quickly opens to a comfortable level, burning smoothly and evenly. The burn quality is truly remarkable.

Smoking Experience

The Gran Legado offers a balanced strength. It’s on the stronger side, just shy of being full-bodied, but never overwhelming. Each puff is nuanced and complex, with hints of leather and subtle sweetness blending with satisfying earth tones.

The cigar includes high-priming filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, which pack potent flavor and strength. These complement the toothy flavor profile of the Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, well known for it’s rich and earthy flavor profile and chewy smoke.

Final Thoughts

The Gran Legado is a big, strong, and lengthy cigar that remains compelling and balanced throughout. Be prepared to dedicate at least two hours to fully enjoy this smoke. It’s a fantastic choice for special occasions and for seasoned aficionados.

La Gloria Cubana is renowned for its commitment to quality, and the Gran Legado is a testament to this legacy. Despite its size and strength, it produces a consistent burn and a captivating smoking experience.
