Smoked: La Aurora 1903 Edition Platinum Perfecto

Happy Labor Day weekend, Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf! I’m celebrating. I’m celebrating the unofficial end of a long, oppressively hot summer. I’m celebrating the upcoming cooler fall season. And, I’m especially celebrating the return of BIG TEN COLLEGE FOOTBALL ON SATURDAYS, starting TOMORROW!!!! Those noteworthy occasions, fellow cigar lovers, call for the long-awaited official opening of the La Aurora Preferidos 1903 Edition Treasure Box.

Inside the Treasure Box are precious gems and precious metals. The gems are an emerald, a ruby, a diamond, and a sapphire. The metals are gold and platinum. I decided to first mine the Platinum, a 5 x 54 Perfecto. This precious cigar is wrapped in gorgeous Cameroon, with a binder from the Dominican Republic, and oh-so-tasty Dominican, Cameroon, and Brazilian tobaccos making up the filler.

Fabulous construction provided for an almost perfect burn and a perfect draw. Notes of cream, nuts, spice, toast, and a slight bit of cocoa delighted my palate. An initial presence of pepper appeared upon spark-up, but soon faded into the background, allowing for smooth and flavorful retrohales thereafter. Strength was medium to medium-full.

Perhaps I’ll again head down the mine shaft to dig for some gold or a precious gem around Thanksgiving. In my book, these are special occasion cigars. Wait. October 14th is Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Does that count?

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend while enjoying some fine cigars. GO PURDUE BOILERMAKERS! Cheers! 🥂😊
