Cigar Reviewed: Asylum 13 Ogre
Smoked at: Carolinas
I selected an Asylum 13 Ogre for an afternoon smoke. This is a barber pole cigar with overlapping Maduro and Candela wrapper. This 6 x 60 smoke is one of the "smaller" Ogres available. The cold draw was grassy and clean. The draw was a little difficult, but a draw tool fixed the problem easily. Once lit, I got a mild and uplifting flavor of new mown hay, earth, and a little bit of chocolate. The cigar did not burn evenly. Perhaps because of the alternating wrappers. But it burned cool and long producing a nice cool smoke and did not unravel at all. It's very well made. As it progressed the Ogre seemed grow and developed much more body. The mild grassy flavors gave way to pepper and the aroma of old chestnut beams; a woody almost nutty note on the palette. The smoke lasted well over an hour. I would definitely smoke this again. It makes an attractive gift and is a pleasant and agreeable cigar for a long afternoon.
