Cigar Reviewed: Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo La Amistad Black
Smoked at: My Driveway
This is a powerhouse of a smoke. I had the Media Noche size last night for this review. It starts off showing you it’s definitely an AJ Fernandez cigar from the start. You notice that in the first inch plus of the smoke. It starts off very peppery and robust in the spicy flavor. After an inch or 2 of smoking you get used to power and it starts to cool off a bit and the pepper flavors take a back seat. The flavor starts to show off other flavors at this point. It had a rich almond flavor being the new dominant flavor as the pepper flavors comes on in the background and lingers around. The peppery flavor has a distinct chili pepper flavor. It mostly stays that way until about the last 2 or inches. But as the smaller it gets the chilI pepper flavor starts to creep up a little more but never dominating the almond flavor. If you like full bodied cigars this will definitely do the trick for you.
