Cigar Reviewed: Macanudo Emissary España

Smoked at: El dorado, AR

Presentation is by far the best I've seen from Macanudo. The contrasting color foot band to the gold foil on the main band. All screams premium. Initial handling of the cigar has me worried a little as it is very dense. This is a HEAVY robusto. Very tight dry draw but it has some depth of earthy coco and baker's spice. From the rip it is much lighter than the dry draw led me to believe. Light and toasty with a faint citrus note that comes and goes. Stark white ash and an even burn as I head into the second third. In the second third there is a new sweetness that has developed. It has ramped up a little more. Not the light and toasty notes I had at the beginning. The citrus is totally gone and replaced with a more medium strength cigar. Hints of dark coco compliment that sweetness that has shown up. Ash held on all the way to the band! Entering that final third, the sweetness has weined considerably. The draw has locked down to that of a super thick malt that you would get from your local diner. It took a step back and is back to light and subtle flavors almost a roasted nuttiness. Overall a solid smoke. Would purchase if found in the wild. The flavors ranges from sweet and subtle to medium and nutty. This is definitely a stick you won't be chewing on the next few days. The Macanudo Emissary would smoke well for anyone.
