Smoked: Bolivar Coronas Junior

The Cuban Embargo became law shortly before I smoked my very first cigar, a memorable Dutch Masters President. I recently smoked my first Habanos since that momentous day many years ago. This 4.3 x 42 Bolivar Coronas Junior was gifted to me by a Brother of the Leaf who’d been to Cuba. He legally brought some back to the U. S. when it was briefly allowed. He is a true cigar aficionado and expert, so its authenticity is guaranteed.

Made in March 2016, this Bolivar has had the necessary ageing time required for Cuban sticks. It had a pleasant woody and spicy flavor profile. Was it better than premium cigars legally available in the U. S. marketplace? Nope. Just different. Do I want to try more Cuban cigars? Not enough to try to have some clandestinely shipped to me. Perhaps when the Embargo is eventually lifted, I’ll check out more of them. IF I can afford them, that is.
