The Isla del Sol by Drew Estate is a budget-friendly, coffee-infused cigar that delivers a smooth and mellow smoking experience. The Sumatra wrapper has a slight oiliness, and the pre-light aroma is rich with coffee, cocoa, and a bit of vanilla. The cold draw confirms the infused nature of the cigar, with a strong mocha sweetness and a touch of brown sugar. The sweetened cap is immediately noticeable upon lighting, adding a sugary coating to the lips. Smoke output is excellent, and the initial flavors lean heavily into creamy coffee with hints of roasted nuts and a light earthiness.
As the cigar progresses, the sweetness from the cap starts to fade, allowing more of the natural tobacco and coffee notes to come through. There’s a mild spice in the background, but nothing overpowering. The burn is mostly even, and the draw remains smooth. It stays consistent throughout, with the second half bringing in a bit more toasted nuttiness and a slight cedar note. The coffee flavor deepens as it nears the end, shifting from a sweet mocha to a more espresso-like profile. There’s a little bitterness, but it’s not unpleasant—more like the natural bitterness of dark roasted coffee.
Construction is solid, with no major touch-ups needed. The Isla del Sol is an easygoing cigar, perfect for a morning smoke or pairing with coffee. It’s mild, flavorful, and well-balanced for an infused cigar. While it won’t offer much complexity or challenge to seasoned smokers, it’s a great choice for those who enjoy sweet, coffee-forward cigars or are looking for a casual, enjoyable smoke.
