Smoked: Rocky Patel Sun Grown Toro

If you’re old enough, you may remember that tagline from the Peter Paul Mounds candy bar commercial. It certainly applies to this absolutely out-of-this-world cigar that’s been resting in my humidor for around nine months.

It was rolled in 2019, so that makes it 5-years-old. But wait! There’s more! The beautiful, luscious Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper was aged for 5 years prior to rolling. Underneath that is a Nicaraguan binder and filler comprised of Dominican, Brazilian, and Nicaraguan tobacco that were all aged for over 7 years. That means that the wrapper was from a 2013/2014 harvest, and the filler’s tobaccos were harvested around 2011.

Talk about one delicious cigar! Deep, rich, smooth and savory notes of leather, earth, nuts, pepper, spices, and mild cayenne pepper made their presence known throughout this perfectly burning, perfectly drawing masterpiece.
