Cigar Reviewed: Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo La Amistad Dark Sumatra

Smoked at: Tennessee

This review is more of a comparison for me on both the old and the new . The old version has been in my humidor for 2 years and was at tobacco shop for an unknown time . The new version has been stored for one year before smoking. Old version very smooth no bit more creamy than the new blend. A nice cognac or syrah wine really opens this cigar up . On to the current version with AJ 's twist , after three or four of these and playing with a drink pairing I have settled on a rich coffee cold brew (black no add-ons) or a Dewars white label .The coffee brings out the pepper and wood taste of the cigar the scotchs flavor actually changes with this cigar as does how the cigar tastes . The scotch loses it bit with this cigar and the cigar gains a more leather fruit taste and doesn't get as harsh on the last third . This cigar is by far the strongest cigar I smoke and will try a more aged scotch in the next .
