Cigar Reviewed: Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask

Smoked at: Seneca, South Carolina

Picked up a 5 pack to try out. Ive always liked the majority of Diesel brand cigars. Initial impressions are the wrapper was smooth with a decently oily feel and an aroma of earth and dark roast coffee. The foot of the cigar had a rich soil and coffee, as well, but also mixed in chocolate and vanilla notes. Once clipped (V cut Colibri), I had a good prelight draw with just the right amount of resistance. The cold flavors were of chocolate, vanilla, and red and black pepper. The barrel-aging came through in prelight in a huge way with tons of sweetness. Once fired up I was not terribly surprised that the sweetness continued on initial puffs. The sherry came through prominently, but also more chocolate and berry notes. Pepper was more evident on the lit cigar with heat remaining on my tongue during the finish and a retrohale that was almost too peppery. Further puffs revealed that rich soil and espresso notes behind the sweeter flavors. Overall an excellent cigar, last 1/3 started burning off and had to relight 2x, otherwise great ash and solid cigar.
