Smoked: Crowned Heads Four Kicks Capa Especial Limited Edition 2022

Smoked at: Sharonville, Ohio

Crowned Heads Four Kicks Capa Especial Limited Edition 2022 Lancero from Crowned Heads is a Dominican & Nicraguan covered in an oily Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, somewhat darker than your standard off the rack Sumatra, toothy with one long vein and several tiny ones. Carrillo supposedly had some role in the blending, but I’m not sure how. It has a pigtail. You know my phobia with pigtails. Out comes the V cutter.

Flavors: cedar, mixed nuts, mild sweetness, mild spice & pepper, smooth and creamy. The sweetness is pleasant but hard to pinpoint – vanilla, caramel, cotton candy – not sure, but I like it. Add a few puffs of mild chocolate/cocoa powder, raisins, bread/toast, herbs and tea. Faint and fleeting. There’s also a hint of saltiness – not much but it does balance the sweet notes nicely. The dominant/ever present flavors though minimal work together beautifully. The balance is terrific. The retrohale features the requisite pepper, but rather mild as well. It’s medium-mild to medium body and strength until the last third when the strength ratchets up a bit.

Great construction: Nice open draw, pretty even burn line, especially for a Lancero and a good volume of smoke. Volume? Does it have an attenuator? - showing my age again.

I have to thank my friend Steve for gifting this cigar. You never go wrong with a gift or recommendation from Steve. Many thanks for an excellent cigar. I found the Four Kicks Capa Especial Limited Edition 2022 Lancero a very enjoyable smoke. Pair it with Cognac, Speyside scotch or coffee.
