Smoked: Caldwell Long Live The King Petite Double Wide Short Churchill

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

I reviewed the Caldwell Long Live The King My Style is Jalapeno a few weeks back (see August 4, 2024) . I said I would review this version of the cigar after reviewing the lancero, so here we are smoking for the first time in 6 months the Caldwell Long Live The King Petite Double Wide Short Churchill. Can we just call it a Toro? Well, that would be un-Caldwell-like. And it wouldn’t have offered me the opportunity to express some British humor as comparison in my initial review.

The flavor profile is essentially the same as the Jalapeno-Lancero except a bit more muted on the citrus and saltiness and more intensity on the wood, spice and nuttiness. The medium body and strength is there. Construction-wise: solid – including, not surprisingly, a more abundant smoke production. There is a slight difference in overall flavor between the vitolas. It’s like someone just turned up the volume a decibel or two on the basic flavor notes. What 6 months in the humidor can do for a cigar.
