Smoked: Cain F Lancero

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

Cain F Lancero has only one band - a foot band. It’s a 7 by 38 Nicaraguan puro with a reddish-hued brown Habano wrapper with some pronounced veins.

Cedar, earth, hay, grassy, vegetal, dried fruit, spice, pepper, clove with backnotes of coffee, cocoa, mixed nuts, leather and creaminess from nougat making occasional appearances. It’s a full-bodied cigar with less strength than other Cains I have tried, but more body. The flavors move forward and into the background rather than actually transition. So you could argue for a lack of complexity. I did not have a problem with the flavor profile. It seems the flavors simply rebalance themselves. There’s nothing new by the final third, but no flavors are lost either. The only change in the taste by the finish is a variable increase in the wood, leather and coffee notes.

This Lancero has a perfect draw, decent smoke output, the ash held to about ¾ of an inch, a very uneven burn line to start although a few touchups evens it out through the remainder of the smoke - overall, good construction.

This cigar has some serious strength to it. If you like LFD Double Ligero Chisels, The Tabernacle Havana Seed 142, Liga Privada No. 9, you’ll probably enjoy this stick a lot. There were no Oh Wow moments, but I found it an enjoyable cigar.
