Cigar Reviewed: Padron 1964 Anniversary Series Maduro

Smoked at: My Man Cave New Years Eve

The belief is that how you start the year is how you will spend the year.

For me, it was the simple pleasure of smoking a fantastic stick and sipping on great bourbon.

Let me first say that up until a few months ago, and I was not the biggest fan of Padron Cigars.

I know some of you may think I am crazy, but hey, that's just me.

So here we go, the long story less long. A few weeks ago, I was introduced to the Padron 1964 Anniversary Series Natural (Thanks to B.P. Battles and The Boardroom Whisky and Cigar Lounge, now located in Waxahachie, Texas).

Boy, let me tell you. This was amazing. I paired it with The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year. Flavor notes of chocolate, coffee, and a creamy finish washed down with a smooth and creamy palate notes of apples, mangoes, and a hint of orange was a smoking experience for the books—a smoking euphoria, to say the least.

Fast forward to New Year's Eve. I decided to finish off 2021 with a Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro and Blantons Bourdon.

Facts show that it is almost impossible for lighting to strike twice in the same spot. Well, I can tell that this theory was proven wrong.

Traces of coffee bean, cocoa, and hazelnut in the Padron washed down with the sweet notes of the creamy vanilla nose and teased of caramel and butterscotch, backed with underscored of baking spices and clove were a musical concerto masterpiece.

This pairing played off each other like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, David Burbeck, and Thelonious Monk sitting in a recording studio and feeding off of each other for a musical ear orgasm.

Trust me, if you can get your hands on this stick and bourdon, sit down and enjoy with Miles or Coltrane playing in the background. Thank me later.
