Smoked: Arturo Fuente Spanish Lonsdale Maduro
Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio
Arturo Fuente Spanish Lonsdale Maduro is a Dominican with a smooth rustic-looking reddish dark brown Maduro wrapper with a number of visible veins. The wrapper looks kind of splotchy in spots with some lighter brown areas. This may have nothing to do with the quality of the leaf. Just an oddity. We’ll see.
Tight draw I’m always nervous using Perfect Draw on a Lonsdale. I need an AI-engineered gyroscopically accurate tool to hit dead center and keep it there. Bingo! Done…and done. No wrapper tears or too much tobacco taken out. The draw opens, smoke billows and flavors open up.
Spice, pepper, cedar, almonds, dark coffee, earthy leather, and mossy earth. especially on the retrohale. There are faint notes of wood beyond the cedar. Even some puffs of raisin, cherry and perhaps a teriyaki note. The cigar displayed some bitterness with a saline flavor during the final third.
AF Spanish Lonsdale is a medium-full bodied, medium strength cigar. It’s not very complex but it is balanced although no transitions – still a pleasant experience.
